According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Berry was on a camping trip with close friends and had taken their Allison bass boat out for a solo night fishing excursion. Around 12:50 a.m. CDT, Berry reportedly lost his footing and fell overboard. Nearby campers and friends attempted to assist and called for help, but tragically, Berry could not be located in time. Emergency responders arrived quickly, launching a search and recovery operation that continued into the early morning hours.

Berry’s body was later recovered by TWRA divers with the support of local emergency crews. He was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident, officials said.

News of his death has left family, friends, and the community of Celina stunned and heartbroken. Described as kind-hearted, easygoing, and passionate about the outdoors, Christopher Berry was deeply loved by those who knew him. He was an avid fisherman, a loyal friend, and someone who found joy in the quiet beauty of Tennessee’s lakes and rivers.

“This was a terrible accident,” said a TWRA spokesperson. “Our hearts go out to Mr. Berry’s family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. We always encourage boaters and anglers to wear life jackets, especially during solo outings at night.”

Christopher Berry’s passing is a stark reminder of how quickly peaceful moments can turn to tragedy. As the community mourns his loss, tributes and memories are being shared to honor a life that ended far too soon.

Rest in peace, Christopher Berry. Your love for the water and your gentle spirit will never be forgotten
